SPENGA CREW Spotlight: Patricia

patricia How long have you been a member at SPENGA Ann Arbor?

I actually just started - maybe a little over a month or so! I have previously taught lots of forms of fitness, such as yoga, swimming, kettlebell classes and more :) I am super excited though to get more into the SPENGA community as an instructor.

What is the best part about being an instructor at SPENGA?

I know this is probably cheesy, but it really is the members. I am getting to know so many new beautiful faces and seeing people show up regularly and put in the WERK to see results, at my classes or another instructor's, is really the best feeling.

What is your favorite music to listen to while instructing?

I love love love Spanish pop music! Artists like Juanes, CNCO, Rosalia, etc. It always makes me want to dance when I listen to Spanish music, so I hope that rubs off on others and we can have a little fun while we WERK:

What do you do when you aren't working out?

When I am not working I am usually reading or going on long walks with my dog. I just finished The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van der Kolk, and Lifting Heavy Things by Laura Khoudari and I really recommend both of them. I also do academic research both in climate change economics and in adaptive sports and fitness!

What is a fun fact a lot of members might not know about you?

I speak three languages and am learning a fourth!
